#54 - Mastering your menstrual cycle: The 5th Vital Sign with Lisa Hendrickson-Jack

Weight Loss For Women: empowering health, strength and nourishment - A podcast by Kitty Blomfield - Mercoledì

I was so excited to have Lisa on the podcast! I'm a huge fan of her book The 5th Vital Sign.If you’re a woman and you haven’t read this book, I highly recommend you read it. Prior to finding Dr Ray Peat's work, Emma Sgourakis (my now business partner) and Craig I suffered with painful and irregular periods, PMS, I had a miscarriage, a D&C, polyps as well  pre-cancerous cells removed from my cervix. If you’ve followed me for a while you’ll also know I cycled through low calorie diets, excessive exercising and I was a big binge drinker for 17 years of my life. I also took the pill for many years and I had no idea what hormonal contraception was doing to my body. The book is easy to read and contains invaluable information on taking charge of your menstrual cycle and how menstrual cycle health really is the fifth vital sign for women. It also has fantastic information on the pill, IUD's, Depo-Provera and the implant and the effect they have on the female body. The majority of women that come to me want to lose weight and change the outside without realising how important it is to build a solid foundation which includes having a healthy menstrual cycle. In this episode we chat about: ➡️Dangers of hormonal contraception➡️Myths about hormonal contraception and the pill➡️How the pill suppresses ovulation and why this is a problem➡️How cycle issues are often a sign of metabolic issues ➡️Why nutrition is important for the menstrual cycle and reproductive health➡️Why having a regular ovulatory cycle is so important➡️Body fat levels and menstrual health➡️Overexercising and the menstrual cycle➡️What is a healthy menstrual cycle?➡️How toxins in common beauty products can impact your hormones➡️And more!LINKSFollow Kitty on Instagram @kittyblomfield Follow Lisa on Instagram @fertilityfriday Advertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brands
