Whenever you recognise that the system is triggered, very gently bring all your attention fully present into this moment. Become aware of your body breathing, observe your thoughts, and notice the background stillness. Rest your attention as the witness of the moment and don't give interest to any thought that appears, simply remain still as the neutral witness. Then, with an impersonal attitude of gently curiosity enquire into the experience of the body. How does the body feel right now? What emotions are present? Then take away the labels and look at what the actual sensation in the body feels like. Is it a tightness? A contraction? A heaviness? Where exactly in the body is this sensation? Bring your attention so close to the sensation that you're no longer observing it as an outsider, but one with it, feeling it from within. Totally and completely surrender to the sensation and fully allow the body to feel however it feels, without any agenda to change it, fix it, heal it or get rid of it. This unconditional love and acceptance is the paradoxical key for healing and integration of the emotion.
