Navigating new sexual landscapes with Jo Robertson

In this episode of Untidy, Hannah and Matty speak to Jo Robertson – otherwise known as @sextherapistjo on Instagram. Jo is an experienced therapist, specialising in sex and relationships, addiction, betrayal, and trauma. Jo is dedicated to helping our kids grow up with healthy messaging about sex and relationships. She is also the co-founder of 'Makes Sense', an organisation that aims to raise awareness about gaps in our sexual violence prevention approach and digital media regulation in Aotearoa, New Zealand, as well as lobbying for tighter restrictions from the government. We talk about the juggernaut that is the new porn landscape, and how pornography (often aggressive and violent) is openly accessible to children. We discuss how we are supposed to talk to our kids about what they might see online, as well as protect them from things they can never ‘unsee’. Jo shares practical tips on how to lay the foundations for tricky conversations with your children from an early age so they don’t seem so daunting when they’re older, as well as tips for parents on how to navigate playdates and sleepovers.
