The Boys Episode 7 "The Self-Preservation Society" Synopsis

Based on the Comic Series by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson

Developed by Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg

Episode Written by Craig Rosenberg and Ellie Monahan

Episode Directed by Daniel Attia

Love is in the air with Hughie Campbell and Starlight’s blossoming romance…but not for long! With Translucent dead and The Deep exiled to Sandusky , Ohio, The Seven become The Five and Homelander acts on Mesmer’s Intel.

Bringing together the Five, Homelander issues a call to arms as he blames events on Starlight conspiring with Hughie and remembers Billy and Becca Butcher from a Vought Christmas party from 8-years ago.

With a phone call from A-Train, who has Hughie’s father held hostage, The Boys realise they have been betrayed and they should never have trusted a washed-up Supe like Mesmer.

As they go to ground, Hughie and Kimiko race to save his Dad, crippling A-Train in the process; Mother’s Milk brings his wife, Monique, and their daughter to safety; and Butcher kills Mesmer as face meets washing bowl…repeatedly.

Meanwhile, Homelander digs further into past events with his social media manager Becca Butcher. Meeting with Dr Vogelbaum it is revealed to him that Becca and his child died during childbirth! With events out of his control Butcher calls in the CIA for protection.

Armed with the evidence from Butcher Deputy Director Raynor confronts Madalyn Stillwell and Vought International just as she learns of another big problem, the Super-terrorist “Naqib”. In Central Park, Hughie tries to explain everything to her, just as Starlight discovers that love truly does hurt.
