As you’ll hear, I’m flying as a solo host on today’s show without my trusty sidekick Carly.  She wasn’t able to make this episode so I gave it a try on my own. Today on the show you are going to hear the story of a central Illinois football star turned musician.  Joe Stamm, much like yours truly, became a fan of Red Dirt and Texas Country music while living well north of the Red River.  As you’ll hear in this episode, after injuries put an end to his football days, he soon found himself playing a guitar and starting to write songs. The passion he previously had for football started to manifest itself through music.  Joe officially formed The Joe Stamm Band in 2013 and he’s been beating the street ever since.  Over the last few years, he’s earned opening slots for some of my favorite acts including Blackberry Smoke, Jamey Johnson and Chris Knight, who as you’ll hear, Joe and I kind of geek-out on as we’re both huge fans of Chris’s songwriting. For you Midwesterners, The Joe Stamm Band will be playing on October 1st at Whiskey Myer’s Firewater Music Festival and there will be a link for that event within the blog and show notes for this episode.  The lineup for this show is incredible so you don’t want to miss it if you have the chance to go.  The festival is being held near Kansas City and for some reason I mistakenly thought it was being held somewhere in southeastern KS during the episode….my bad… You can order Joe’s brand-new record, Midwest Town, at www.joestammband.com or anywhere you download music. So here comes episode #137 of The Troubadour featuring my new friend from Illinois, Joe Stamm. How YOU can support the podcast!
