In today’s episode, Dr. Martin teaches on HDL (high-density lipoprotein) and shares how to increase your levels of it. HDL is often referred to as your good cholesterol, and the purpose of HDL is to pick up bad lipids in your bloodstream. These bad lipids are in fact triglycerides which clog up your arteries. It's not cholesterol that clogs up arteries, it's triglycerides! Cholesterol has long been made the boogeyman. It gets blamed for what sugar does, and it’s all because of a researcher in the 1950s who theorized it was the root cause of heart disease. Cholesterol is not a bad thing.
