65: My 00s No1 Album - Matt Maust from Cold War Kids picks The Good, The Bad & The Queen
The Boys in the Band Podcast - A podcast by Peter Smith & Richard Gallagher
Categorie:
Our series of bonus podcasts continues with Matt Maust from Cold War Kids naming his favourite album of the 00s era. He picks The Good, The Bad & The Queen's self-titled debut - and describes the work by the super group as "the perfect album". The band consisted of singer Damon Albarn (Blur and Gorillaz), bassist Paul Simonon (The Clash), guitarist Simon Tong (The Verve), and drummer Tony Allen (Fela Kuti). With those icons combining together, there are a lot of different influences at play and Matt explains how the sound of the band is hard to pin down - but very special nonetheless. He also discusses the importance of British music to him and how, as a youngster, the music from these shores captured his imagination and ultimately ended up bringing him and his bandmates together.
