How I Found Out I was Autistic

The Autism in Black Podcast - A podcast by Maria Davis-Pierre, LMHC

The Autism in Black Podcast is hosted by Maria Davis-Pierre, LMHC, and focuses on all things autism and the black parent experience. Our goal is to educate, support, and empower black parents to advocate not only for their children but for themselves as well. Today's episode is going to be a little different as I am doing it solo, rather than with a guest. This episode is going to be about me talking about a very personal experience - and that experience is getting my own Autism diagnosis.  I'm nervous about sharing it but I think it will help a lot of people and will break the stigma toward finding out you are autistic during your adulthood. I will be talking about how I found out I'm autistic, what the specialist did to come to that conclusion, how I felt after it was confirmed and what it was like talking to my family.
