Conversations with a SLP with Shontaye Glover

The Autism in Black Podcast is hosted by Maria Davis-Pierre, LMHC, and focuses on all things autism and the black parent experience. Our goal is to educate, support, and empower black parents to advocate not only for their children but for themselves as well. Today we are joined by Shontaye Glover, who received her Master's of Science degree in communication disorders from William Paterson University in New Jersey. She is a certified Speech-Language Pathologist and the founder of "Having Our Say", LLC, where her private practice focuses on evaluating and providing therapy to children with communication disorders. In this episode, we have an informative conversation with Ms. Shontaye as we deep-dive into Speech and Language Pathology. She takes us through a typical assessment within the school setting and cultural considerations that should be thought about when doing speech evaluations. She also talks about AAC devices and provides tips and resources to enhance speech and language skills in children.
