A Conversation with Supernova Momma

The Autism in Black Podcast - A podcast by Maria Davis-Pierre, LMHC

The Autism in Black Podcast is hosted by Maria Davis-Pierre, LMHC, and focuses on all things autism and the black parent experience. Our goal is to educate, support, and empower black parents to advocate not only for their children but for themselves as well. Today, we have Natasha Nelson, a certified Positive Discipline educator and trainer candidate, veteran military spouse, and autistic mother to two autistic Black girls. She has over seven years of leadership experience in the United States Army and has practiced positive discipline in her home and village for five years. She has blogged her entire experience with motherhood and was featured in Oprah Magazine, Parent Magazine, Black Parent Magazine, and NBC Atlanta Eleven Alive. She created Supernova Momma to help Black and neurodiverse families break generational curses from systemic racism and ableism and raise children in a mutual, loving, empathetic, and respectful environment using her prompt need system. In this episode, Natasha will share her experience being an autistic mother and raising two autistic Black girls and how she implements positive discipline in her home.
