Phoebe feels guilty her dad’s date with Leyla ended badly. She feels he might blame her, and that he might be miserable. Kirsty tries to reassure her, and offers to speak to Roy and find out how he’s really feeling. Roy confirms he doesn’t blame his daughter and is fine with losing Leyla. He tells Kirsty that Kate’s idea to just ‘have fun’ with no potentially hurtful strings is appealing. He’s downloaded an app for fun hook-ups. Kirsty warns him to be careful. Phoebe interrupts them with an offer to contact Leyla and make things right. Roy assures her he’s fine – he’s happy with the single life. Lynda and Lilian have both escaped from life’s pressures to walk their dogs. Lynda’s bogged down with fete admin. Lilian manages to extract from her that she hasn’t actually got a celebrity booked yet to judge the scarecrow competition. Even Jim’s linguist has been snapped up elsewhere. Lilian lets slip an American film actor’s cutting a ribbon at the hospital today. Lynda’s on it! She persuades Lilian to accompany her to track him down, and they hatch a plan to attract the star’s attention involving Lilian faking a faint. Afterwards they rake over the coals of the scam, which has failed. Lilian was rescued by doctors and hauled off to A & E before they could see the actor. However Lynda notes how impressed people seemed with her MBE status, which gives her an idea. She should be the celebrity at the Ambridge fete!
