Lily confides in Rex about her night with Sol. Rex thinks it’s clear that Lily has hit it off with Sol but she’s not interested in pursuing it with the guilt of being unfaithful to Russ weighing heavily on her. Lily’s paranoid that Russ already knows about Sol. He’s acting differently from usual. An energised Russ delegates the lighting of the Gallery’s new exhibition to Freddie. Freddie’s shocked that Russ has handed over the responsibility while also relieved to be out of Vince and his mum’s way. Russ explains how different he feels since receiving the decree absolute. He’s painting a portrait of Lily but won’t show Freddie before it’s finished – he’s determined for it to be perfect by the time Lily sees it. Despite the holiday Elizabeth can’t help but be drawn into work. Vince offers to cook his signature dish for dinner and in return Elizabeth prepares a picnic for their lunch, which they take to Uncle Rupert’s Memorial. All goes well until Elizabeth tries to advise Vince on a work matter. He doesn’t agree with her perspective and cuts the conversation short. Later, with Lily and Russ excused, Freddie endures a tense dinner with Vince and Elizabeth. The mood lightens when Freddie comes clean about the Cranford Crystal incident and Vince admits he’s strained his groin. Freddie comments the plumbing issue won’t be solved until tomorrow. He suggests they make a night of it in the Bridal Suite to save being disturbed again. Vince is game if Elizabeth is.
