The Archers - A podcast by BBC Radio 4

Categorie:

It’s the day of the Ambridge Fete. Tracy mistakes Jackie Weaver for her old domestic science teacher. Jackie is meant to be meeting Usha at the Village Hall so Tracy offers to show her the way. Lynda and Usha are concerned there’s still no sign of Alice. Lynda hopes that the tampered with scarecrow at the Bull is not the reason for her disappearance. Usha’s pleased that Amy’s coming to stay with them but explains that Amy and Alice have lost touch. Alan arrives with news that the anti-scarecrow protesters are picketing the Tea Tent. He suggests that Usha, as a trained advocate, might speak with them. Tracy feels foolish when Usha explains who Jackie Weaver is. Tracy suggests that she takes Jackie back to hers until Usha has defused the protest. Jackie quickly cottons on that something is wrong and Tracy comes clean. Usha confesses to Alan that she has had no joy in dispersing the picket. Alan asks Usha if she could try and dissuade Lynda from mounting a gang of heavies to move the protestors on. Jackie Weaver takes the mic and introduces herself. She explains that she has experience in local government matters and advises the protestors that they might be contravening some relevant legislation. Jackie offers her services as a mediator to discuss their issues but reminds the protestors they have no authority here at all. The protest disbands and, having saved the day, Jackie is treated to a glass of Shires.
