Director and Academy Award-nominated film producer Marc Smerling of A Wilderness of Error, an FX documentary true crime five-part series based on the book A Wilderness of Error: The Trials of Jeffrey MacDonald by Errol Morris.   Retired NYPD detective Bob Duffy was an E-5, military police officer stationed at Fort Bragg in the U.S. Army on a routine patrol on February 16, 1970. He responded to a radio call concerning an incident at 544 Castle Drive.
