More about today’s guest: Spreti Valente is a certified sommelier, professional wine judge, and consultant. Spreti’s experience as a professional wine judge includes work with prestigious wine competitions both in the U.S. and Europe (San Francisco Chronicle, LA International, Sunset Magazine Wine & Spirits Competition, International Women’s Wine Competition, Sonoma Harvest, Press Democrat Wine Competition, and New Orleans Wine Awards -- In Europe: Feminalise Wine Competition (Paris, France) and International Wine Challenge - London). In 2017, Spreti was named the chief judge for the Pacific Rim Wine Competition. Most recently Spreti was appointed the first Chairwoman at the Los Angeles International Wine Competition, the oldest wine competition in the United States. This will be the first woman and Latina to be appointed to lead this prestigious competition, which is in its 87th year. As a consultant, Spreti assists clients to develop their wine marketing programs and produce widely attended wine events. Spreti also works as an educator, teaching wine classes to both public events and university audiences. Spreti’s consulting work has been published in both Spanish and English in the US and Abroad. Born in the USA, Cynthia moved to Europe in 1990 where she has lived in Spain, Belgium, England and Italy. She chose to center her career in Rome and immerse herself in the Italian wine sector, which is her passion. She has taught university students and expats, works with embassies, corporations and private clients, creating and presenting tastings, events, seminars and in-depth courses. Cynthia is a wine writer, translator, and a judge at international wine and sake competitions. She consults with restaurants and enotecas assisting in the development of comprehensive wine lists and excellent food pairings, as well as advising private clients who want to develop a comprehensive Italian wine collection. She lives with her British photographer husband on the shore of Lake Bracciano, north of Rome, where they share their beautiful garden with one massive grapevine, two border collies and an arrogant diva cat.
