Transfiguration: a meditation for the Second Sunday of Lent

In Your Presence - A podcast by Eric Nicolai

A meditation at Ernescliff College, Toronto, by Fr. Eric Nicolai on the Second Sunday of Lent, focused on the Transfiguration of the Lord in Mark 9, 2-10. When I think of this scene, I go to Raphael’s 16th century depiction, commissioned by Cardinal Giulio de Medici, the later Pope Clement VII (1523–1534), and conceived as an altarpiece for the Narbonne Cathedral in France. Now it is in the Vatican museum, and there is a mosaic version in the Vatican Basilica made in 1774, by Stefano Pozzi. How can I too see Jesus as he really is, in all his divinity and splendour? We must see him in that prism. This is what happens to someone in love. Are you in love? Are you transfigured? The whole account of the Raphael painting is in Wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Transfiguration_(Raphael) Music: Adrian Berenguer, Fall (Album Multiplicity, 2017) Many images can be seen if you see this meditation on my YouTube channel: https://youtu.be/LX6YUg2fhnk
