Do Not Seek the Food that Perishes
In Your Presence - A podcast by Eric Nicolai

Fr. Eric Nicolai preaches this meditation in Lyncroft centre, Oct 17, 2021. Jn 6, 25-27: When they found him on the other side of the sea, they said to him, “Rabbi, when did you come here?” Jesus answered them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, you seek me, not because you saw signs, but because you ate your fill of the loaves. Do not labour for the food which perishes, but the food which endures to eternal life, which the Son of man will give to you; for on him has God the Father set his seal.” Formation helps us to focus and understand what is really true about our life. Not just about what we feel. Sometimes we might just feel something. Ongoing formation helps us to see the signs of human vision, too much feeling, too much emotion, too much human vision. What really is your focus? What have you come here to look for? The food that perishes? Mere impressions? The impression you make on others? Being well thought of? Or the food that will lead to eternal life? Music: Handel Opera Rinaldo, aria “Lascia ch’io pianga”, arranged for guitar by Bert Alink.
