Lifestyle blogger & mama of 3: An Interview with Meredith Barnes

Fit For Motherhood - A podcast by Alyssa Yost

In this episode we are talking to Meredith Barnes, the lifestyle/motivational blogger, at Freckles Are Fashion, where she weaves together her faith and her love for fitness and fashion. We talk about her journey healing from juvenile rheumatoid arthritis, her ups and downs of motherhood and how she found a creative outlet with sewing and blogging.

Meredith Barnes has a colorful professional history including in advertising for the Anaheim Angels, and as a costume designer, an orthopedic Physician Assistant, cycle instructor, a seamstress and a writer. After receiving a BA in Theology at Loyola Marymount University she went on to earn a Master’s Degree in Medical Science from Midwestern University.
She is a mother of three boys, ages 5, 3 and 7 months. She currently resides in Southern California, where she grew up, but considers herself an honorary Midwesterner, as both her parents are from the Midwest and she spent every summer of her life in Michigan. She lived in Chicago for 10 years where she met her husband Ben.  Since they moved to California four years ago, he continues to commute back to Chicago for work at least once a month.
Meredith was diagnosed with the autoimmune disease, Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis at the age of 8.  This significantly molded her childhood experience. Her illness has been a strong motivation for her present day passion for health and wellness.

While raising her three sons takes up most of her days, she still attempts to find time to work on multiple passion projects.
