Embroidery Hoop Artist & Mama of 2 An Interview with Celeste Johnston

Fit For Motherhood - A podcast by Alyssa Yost

In this episode we talk with Celeste Johnston who is the embroidery artist and maker behind Lemon Made Shop. She began her small business in 2016 after moving from the Midwest to Austin, Texas with her husband and two young children. After being an elementary teacher for eight years and transitioning to stay at home mom life, embroidery was a welcomed crafting endeavor that quickly turned into a successful Etsy business. She has made many happy customers with purchases from her shop and inspires 50K+ crafters from all around the world through her Instagram account.

Celeste stitches houseplants, flowers, animals, uplifting and important words, and some of her most beloved pieces come from her 50 states collection, where she stitches an outline of a state and fills it with colorful native plants or scenery. She loves embroidery because of the soft textures, endless subject matter, and the therapeutic and fulfilling process of working on a piece.

She stitches during her children’s nap times and into the wee hours of the night, burning through cups of coffee and her favorite Netflix series. Crafting has always been a central theme of her life, but embroidery is where Celeste has truly flourished, empowering her to share the love of the craft with everyone.
