Market Report for w/c Monday 26th June 2023. Old-crop wheat has benefitted greatly from the massive rise in new-crop prices. The team are busy emptying their stores and encouraging people that own grain in stores to move their grain. The plan for this week’s episode was to go on a crop inspection tour, a helicopter ride where Andrew would become a news reporter for the day, looking forward to being nosy and looking at everyone's crops. Unfortunately, the weather threw up some thunderstorms, so you will all have to stay tuned for this until the second week of July.Today, as we are recording, the market has taken a turn for the worst, President Biden has announced that he is reducing the necessity for biofuel inclusion.Andrew ruffled a few feathers in last week’s episode where he discussed his shared opinions with Greta Thunberg…tune in to hear thoughts on more opinions that he also disagrees with.In the farm chat, Andrew discussed the key things in the market that we need to be analysing. Zelenskyy has announced that the people should get medicines ready as Russia may be plotting an attack on the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant. In terms of weather, Scandinavia still needs rain and this is forecasted for the coming week which will help the malting market. Andrew goes on to discuss the UK weather in more depth. Harvest is three weeks away, so the 15th to 16th of July will be when the team expect to see the first stages of this. For those joining us on the next Dewing Grain Walk, we will be walking around the villages of Mundesley, Gimingham & Trunch on Monday 26th June at 2pm. What3words location: “feel.sunbeam.swarm”As always, thanks to our listeners, old and new, and remember to keep in touch by heading over to @dewinggrain on Twitter and Instagram.
