On this episode of The Deep Cut, host John Rocha welcomes actor, director, writer, producer and all-around fun guy Matthew Modine to the show. He is promoting his new film Miss Virginia that stars Orange is the New Black’s Uzo Aduba as a struggling inner-city mother named Virginia Walden Ford who sacrifices everything to give her son a good education. Unwilling to allow her son to stay in a dangerous school, she launches a movement that could save his future - and that of thousands like him. Modine plays eccentric Congressman Cliff Williams who aids Virginia in this effort. It’s based on a true story. Rocha and Modine dive deep into the events that happened in the movie. They also discuss some of his best work on his resume like Vision Quest, Full Metal Jacket, Stranger Things and the legendary for all the wrong reason Cutthroat Island. Modine opens up about the time he pissed off Kubrick on the set of Full Metal Jacket with his theory about 2001: A Space Odyssey. He also gives his thoughts on if he is the American in Stranger Things and so much more! It’s another wide open, fun and in depth conversation with an accomplished, funny and supremely talented guest on The Deep Cut.
