About Maria Colleen


Maria Colleen Wietmarschen, Professional Speaker, Coach, Professional Author Assistant and Award-Winning Writer, has entrepreneurial blood running through her veins. Starting her first business in 1996, she’s seen it all; great times, not so great times, changing times, and more, but has prevailed through it all.

Colleen served as the Executive Director for the Cincinnati Chapter of the Public Speakers Association in 2015. She started the local chapter of the Ohio Valley Business Services Network in 1999, and she served as Co-Editor of IVAACast, a monthly industry e-zine for Virtual Assistants from 2010-2014. In 2016, Colleen provided copywriting for all email marketing campaigns for the International Virtual Assistants Association (IVAA).

Education/Experience

Before its disbandment, Colleen was a Member of Gateway Writers Club and attended meetings with other authors working on perfecting her writing and proofreading skills and critiquing other members’ compositions. Colleen served as the Executive Director for the Cincinnati Chapter of the Public Speakers Association in 2015. She started the local chapter of the Ohio Valley Business Services Network in 1999, and she served as Co-Editor of IVAACast, a monthly industry e-zine for Virtual Assistants from 2010-2014. In 2016, Colleen provided copywriting for all email marketing campaigns for the International Virtual Assistants Association (IVAA).


Achievements

In 2011, Colleen was the recipient of the Best of Cincinnati Writer’s Award presented by U.S. Commerce Association. It was an honor to receive this accolade. She has completed four half-marathons, completed a triathlon, and ran a 300-mile bike race in 30 days.


Obstacles Overcame

Starting a business in 1996 wasn’t easy for Maria Colleen. She went through various challenges, which eventually led her to quit after a while. After eighteen years, Colleen is back on her fit and now runs a successful business, becoming a publishing consultant as well as becoming a professional speaker. Colleen has often claimed that she made her most significant achievements in her 50s.


Fun Facts

Colleen likes to participate in competitive walking events, hiking, biking, and swimming. She’s always looking to take part in a half marathon or walking event to stay active. She started private violin lessons a few years ago.
