About David Barnett

David Barnett is a private transaction advisor and former expert business broker, entrepreneur, and a bestselling author. He has over 35 years of experience mediating the buying and selling of small and medium-sized businesses. 

  • Education – He is a 1998 graduate of the Williams School of Business and Economics at Bishop’s University, and a graduate of UNBSJ’s Electronic Commerce Management Program.  Since the late ‘90s, he has been building his profile as an expert in the field of small and medium-sized enterprises. 
  • Experience – He has worked as an accountant with the Yellow Pages between 1998 and 2005 where he acquired hands-on knowledge of business accounting. In 2006 he began building his professional consulting practice by starting Advantage Liquidity Partners Ltd. ALP Ltd. was a broker of commercial debt solutions for small and medium-sized enterprises, then joined Sunbelt Business Brokers in 2008. After completing an extensive training and testing process in 2009, he was awarded the CMEA designation by the NEBB Institute. Within 3 years, he helped intermediate 35 business buy/sell transactions in Atlantic Canada. He sold the Moncton Sunbelt franchise in December of 2011 and took a position with American Express to manage their corporate mid-market revolving credit programs in Atlantic Canada.
  • Accomplishments - He began buying income properties between the years of 1998 and 2005.  He eventually owned 3 multi-unit properties and one house which he disposed of in a lease-option deal. With all those experiences, he is an Amazon best-selling author.
