Often found underwater, Annika Andresen is a passionate scuba diver, whose love for the ocean began as a child, spending every summer living on a 30 ft yacht and sailing around New Zealand. During university, she started off working as a deck hand on a boat, and working in Kelly Tarltons during winter. She now works with leading scientists on ocean research and is program manager for expeditions around the globe. In this episode we talk about all the best places to dive in Aotearoa, including the Poor Knights Islands, White Island, Milford Sound and the Kermadec Islands. Annika shares about some of her underwater encounters, including both the breathtaking slightly terrifying. We cover all the details on how beginners can overcome a fear of the ocean, the types of scuba diving certificates you can work towards - from open water, to night-dives, wreck diving, and technical diving. This episode will absolutely inspire your next underwater adventures around Aotearoa.
